FAQ

Frequently asked questions about building, submitting, and selling templates on Gymlium.

Building templates

What technologies do templates use?

Templates are built with React (functional components), CSS Modules, and optionally Tailwind CSS utilities. They run inside a Next.js application managed by the Gymlium platform. You don’t need to configure Next.js — just write components and styles.

Do I need to handle routing, authentication, or data fetching?

No. The platform handles all of this. Your template only provides the visual layer — Header, Footer, Loading states, and page content components. Use the useApp() and useAuth() hooks to access data.

Can I use third-party npm packages in my template?

No. Templates cannot include their own dependencies. You have access to React, the platform hooks, CSS Modules, and Tailwind utilities. This keeps templates lightweight and secure.

Do I need to support all 14 languages?

You don’t need to translate anything — the platform provides all translations via the t() function. However, your template must support RTL layout (Arabic and Persian). You must test with at least English and one RTL locale (Arabic recommended).

Can I use TypeScript?

Yes. Template components can be written in TypeScript (.tsx files). The SDK includes type definitions for all hooks and interfaces.

Submission and review

How long does the review process take?

Typically 2-5 business days. Automated validation happens instantly. Manual review takes 1-2 business days after the queue wait.

What are the most common rejection reasons?

  1. Hardcoded English text instead of using t()
  2. Broken RTL layout
  3. Only one theme mode (dark or light) working properly
  4. Mobile layout issues
  5. Wrong export patterns (default vs named exports)

See Review Process for the complete list.

Can I resubmit after rejection?

Yes. Fix the issues noted by the reviewer, bump your version, and upload again. Resubmissions are reviewed with priority.

Can I update my template after it’s published?

Yes. See Updating Your Template. Updates go through the same review process.

Pricing and revenue

How much money can I make?

It depends on your template quality, pricing, and the market. You keep 95% of every sale. A standard template at £30 with 100 sales generates £2,850 in net revenue for you (before Stripe fees).

When do I get paid?

Payouts are processed weekly (every Monday) via Stripe Connect. The minimum payout threshold is £10. Bank transfers typically arrive within 2-7 business days.

Can I change my template’s price?

Yes, at any time from the developer portal. Price changes take effect immediately for new buyers. Existing buyers are not affected.

What’s the difference between Standard and Exclusive licenses?

Standard: Multiple trainers can buy and use the template. You earn revenue from each sale.

Exclusive: Only one trainer can buy it. After purchase, the template is permanently delisted. Price should be significantly higher (3-5× the standard price). See Licensing.

What happens if someone buys the Standard license — can someone else still buy Exclusive?

No. Once any standard license is sold, the exclusive option disappears permanently. See Licensing for the full interaction model.

Intellectual property

Can buyers see my source code?

No. Your template source code is never exposed. The platform compiles and serves templates server-side. Buyers get the visual result — your original React components, CSS, and logic remain private.

Can someone copy my template design?

While someone could visually replicate a design, they cannot access your code. Gymlium’s terms of service prohibit template copying, and the review team checks new submissions for similarity to existing templates.

Who owns the template?

You retain full intellectual property rights to your template code and design. Gymlium has a license to distribute it through the marketplace. If you remove your template from the marketplace, existing buyers retain their license, but no new sales occur.

Can I sell my template on other platforms?

Yes, as long as the template you sell on Gymlium is built for the Gymlium SDK and doesn’t violate any other platform’s exclusivity terms. The design itself is yours.

Developer account

Is there a fee to become a developer?

No. Developer accounts are free. Gymlium only takes 5% of your sales.

Do I need a business entity to register?

No. Individual developers can register with personal identification. Stripe Connect handles identity verification.

Can I have multiple templates?

Yes, there’s no limit on the number of templates you can publish. Many successful developers maintain a portfolio of 5-10+ templates.
