Gymlium templates are sold under one of four license types. Understanding how licensing works is important for pricing strategy and managing your template portfolio.

License types

Free license

Template is available at no cost
Unlimited trainers can use it
No restrictions or attribution
You earn no revenue from downloads

Free with attribution

Template is free to use
A “Designed by [Your Name]” link appears in the footer
Trainers can pay a one-time fee to remove the attribution
You earn 95% of each attribution removal fee

Standard license

Trainer pays a one-time fee to use the template
Multiple trainers can purchase the same template
No limit on the number of buyers
Each trainer gets an independent license
You earn 95% of each sale

Exclusive license

Trainer pays a premium one-time fee
Only one trainer can ever purchase this license
After purchase, the template is permanently delisted
The buyer is guaranteed a unique design
You earn 95% of the sale

How Standard and Exclusive interact

When you submit a standard template, the marketplace also displays an exclusive purchase option (at a higher price you set). Here’s how the interaction works:

Scenario 1: Standard sold first

Trainer A buys a standard license for £30
The exclusive option immediately disappears
Trainer B can still buy a standard license for £30
The template remains available for unlimited standard purchases

Once any standard license is sold, the exclusive option is gone permanently. Multiple trainers sharing the same design means exclusivity is no longer possible.

Scenario 2: Exclusive sold first

Trainer A buys the exclusive license for £150
The template is immediately delisted from the marketplace
No other trainer can ever purchase it (standard or exclusive)
Trainer A has a guaranteed unique design

Scenario 3: No sales yet

Both standard and exclusive options are visible on the marketplace listing:

Strategic note: If you believe your template has strong exclusive potential, consider setting the standard price slightly higher to encourage exclusive purchases. Once a standard sale occurs, the exclusive option vanishes.

All Gymlium template licenses (standard and exclusive) include:

Buyers never see your source code. The platform compiles and serves templates server-side. Your original React components, CSS, and logic remain private.

Choosing a license strategy
