Pricing Your Template
Gymlium offers four pricing models for templates. Choosing the right one depends on your goals, the quality of your work, and your target market.
Pricing types
Free
{ "type": "free" }No cost to trainers. No restrictions. No attribution required.
When to use: Building your portfolio, gaining marketplace visibility, or contributing to the community. Free templates can establish your reputation before you release paid work.
Free with attribution
{ "type": "free_with_attribution", "attribution_removal_price": 19.99, "currency": "GBP" }Free to use, but includes a small “Designed by [Your Name]” link in the footer. Trainers can pay a one-time fee, the attribution_removal_price you set, to remove the attribution.
When to use: You want wide distribution and brand exposure. Attribution removal fees provide passive income while your design reaches more trainers.
Standard
{
"type": "standard",
"standard_price": 29.99,
"currency": "GBP"
}Paid template. Multiple trainers can purchase and use it. There’s no limit on the number of buyers.
When to use: This is the most common pricing model. Good for polished, versatile templates that appeal to a broad audience. Volume sales at a reasonable price point.
Exclusive
{
"type": "exclusive",
"exclusive_price": 149.99,
"currency": "GBP"
}Paid template. Only one trainer can buy it. Once purchased, the template is permanently delisted from the marketplace. No other trainer can ever use it.
When to use: Premium, highly polished templates where uniqueness is the value proposition. Trainers pay more because they’re guaranteed no one else has the same design.
Pricing strategy tips
Standard templates
| Price range | Positioning |
|---|---|
| £15 - £25 | Entry-level. Good for your first templates or simpler designs. |
| £25 - £50 | Mid-range. Well-designed templates with multiple pages. |
| £50 - £100 | Premium. Comprehensive templates with animations, page builder support, and polish. |
Factors that justify higher prices:
- More optional pages included (services, blog, testimonials, etc.)
- Page builder integration
- Sophisticated animations and transitions
- Exceptional responsive design
- Strong visual identity and uniqueness
Exclusive templates
Exclusive templates should be priced significantly higher than standard templates — typically 3-5× — because:
- The buyer gets guaranteed uniqueness
- You can only sell it once
- It’s permanently delisted after purchase
| Price range | Positioning |
|---|---|
| £75 - £150 | Basic exclusive. Clean design, essential pages. |
| £150 - £300 | Premium exclusive. Full page set, animations, page builder. |
| £300+ | Ultra-premium. Exceptional quality, comprehensive feature set. |
Tip: Consider releasing a standard version of your design and a separate, enhanced exclusive version. This lets you earn recurring income from the standard version while commanding a premium for the exclusive.
How pricing affects the marketplace
Standard templates
- Buyers can see how many trainers are using each template
- Higher usage count can be seen as social proof (popular = good)
- But some trainers prefer less common templates for uniqueness
- Once any standard license is sold, the exclusive option for that template is permanently removed
Exclusive templates
- Displayed with an “Exclusive” badge in the marketplace
- Once purchased, the template is immediately delisted
- The buyer’s website is the only one using that design
- Exclusive templates tend to attract premium-focused trainers
Once a standard license is sold for your template, the exclusive option disappears forever. If you want to offer both options, make sure to set up both pricing types from the start. See Licensing for details.
Changing your price
You can update your template’s price at any time from the developer portal. Price changes take effect immediately for new buyers. Existing buyers keep their purchased license regardless of price changes.
